The Home Rewiring Process
You might have some questions about how to rewire a home, but the truth is that it’s a large and complicated job that you’ll want to leave to the professionals. Only a certified electrician can guarantee the job is done right and ensure your home or commercial property is safe.
Like most electrical work, the rewiring process starts with a phone call. You’ll contact Hunt’s Services, and we’ll send a technician to your property for an inspection. During this inspection, we’ll figure out what’s wrong with your electrical system and recommend a solution.
Naturally, an electrical repair is the easiest solution. If possible, we’ll repair your electrical system and save you the cost and disruption of rewiring your home. However, if rewiring is the only option, we’ll begin the job as soon as possible.
Every rewiring job begins with a plan. We’ll have a look around your residential or commercial property, including your crawlspace, basement, and attic, in search of access points. This inspection will show us where to run your new wires in the most efficient way possible.
We can then start rewiring your property. We might remove some old wires, but some will probably be left behind. Leaving some wiring behind your drywall saves time and money. As long as the wiring isn’t connected, it won’t hurt anything.
Next, we’ll run your new cables. This part of the job used to require the contractor to cut large holes in the drywall to secure the wires to the studs behind your walls. Modern techniques allow us to cut smaller access holes and use junction boxes to organize your wires, streamlining the process and leaving you with less of a mess to clean up.
