Sewer Liners

Home » Sewer and Drain » Sewer Liners

Imagine a scenario where you go to flush you toilet and immediately realize that something has gone wrong. The water isn’t going where it’s supposed to go and, instead, you are left with a growing pool on your bathroom floor. This type of sewer and drain issue can quickly get out of control, especially if you don’t have it dealt with immediately.

Unfortunately you need a sewer repair but fortunately we have technology that is called sewer lining to help you save both time and cost. Sewer lining repair is a trenchless sewer repair and replacement all in one technique without having to excavate and tear up your property to get your side sewer lines.

Side sewer repair issues are not something new to the Seattle, Tacoma, Auburn, and Federal Way area due to age of sewer systems that are in those communities. In 2015 alone, 241 side sewer repair permits were handed out by the city and that number is expected to keep growing.

Hunt’s Services is available to help with these and any other plumbing problems that might arise. Our experienced technicians are standing by 24 hours per day to assist with any plumbing emergency or issues that you run into.

Give us a call at 253-927-5862 and we can get started on your pipe repairs as soon as possible to limit the potential damage that is done to your home or property.

The Area in Which We Live

We live in an area where the need for sewer repair is quite common and the reasons are actually pretty simple.

Seattle was founded in 1851 and Tacoma was born in 1865. Since that time, the population has expanded quickly, as there are now more than 3.7 million people in the region. The greatest population boom occurred in the 1940s, when it increased by roughly 44 percent.

This means that many homes in King County and Pierce Country were built in the 1940s and, therefore are getting quite old. While renovations can be done to improve the structure of the home and its aesthetic qualities, the sewer lines often don’t get as much attention.

The lack of attention that has been given to sewer lines in the region is concerning because many are nearing the end of their life expectancy.

At that time, Seattle sewer pipes were often built out of concrete. Generally speaking, concrete pipes have a lifespan of about 80 years, so we are closing in on that milestone for many of the area’s houses.

Other risk factors

Another reason why pipes are cracking and breaking in the Seattle and Tacoma area is that we live in the Cascadia subduction zone. There is plenty of tectonic activity in this area, causing the earth to shift and potentially damaging pipes.

Any time the earth shifts, which is actually quite frequently, there is a chance that your pipes could crack or break. These pipes weren’t made to put up with a whole lot of movement and our position in the subduction zone, along with the material with which these pipes were made, has made us a high risk area.

There are plenty of reasons why pipes could break in this area, but, luckily, there are plenty of things that you can do about it.

Have Your Pipes Checked

The first thing that every homeowner should remember is that a plumber can help. Hunt’s Services specializes in sewer pipe repair and replacement and we can ensure that your system is fixed quickly and efficiently.

Give us a call at 253-927-5862 and we can get started on the process right away. In the end, the longer you wait to have your pipes serviced, the greater your risk of experiencing significant property damage.

The Good News

The good thing about calling Hunt’s is that we have all of the latest trenchless sewer repair and replacement techniques available at our disposal. Trenchless pipe repair is convenient because it means that we don’t give to dig up your yard, saving you time and money throughout the process.

Perhaps the easiest method of repairing pipes is to use a sewer liner. Pipe lining in Seattle / Tacoma is commonly used because it is a quick and easy way to repair the part of the pipe that is broken.

Installing a sewer pipe lining, or cured-in-place pipe, on your property is simple. What we do is push a resin through your pipe and then inflate the pipe using a bladder. This bladder holds the pipe in place and allows the resin to dry.

Once the resin has cured, the bladder is removed and the dried resin has now become part of the pipe, completing the pipe lining process. This pipe relining technique is far easier and more economical than digging up the ground to replace a broken section of pipe, saving you time, money and hassle when having your sewer pipes repaired.

Pipe bursting is a similar technique that we also use, expect this process calls for us to push a brand new pipe through the old one, bursting the old pipe into the soil in the process. This form of sewer replacement could also be an option, should we not be able to install a pipe lining.
