Gas Piping Material Used
We use 3 different types of gas piping:
The first one, Black Iron piping, has been around forever and is still used on every gas job. We cut and thread the piping as needed for each job.
The 2nd option is “CSST” which stands for corrugated stainless steel tubing. This is the preferred method today as it is so much easier to install and the line is flexible. CSST requires a special license to use so you won’t see it in the home centers. This type of piping makes it easier to install gas piping in homes that are already built because we can snake the piping through walls and around duct work and so on.
The 3rd option we use is polyethylene, which we use for underground jobs. A special license is required to use polyethylene as well.
